Never Too Late for a Lifestyle Change for Better Health.

Afer having my physical exam, my doctor referred me to see a nutritionist and cardiologist. My triglecyrided went down from last year but still need to lower it. I also need to follow up with a new cardiologist for series of my ER trips due to heart palpitations, near syncope etc. i already had seen a pulmonary specialist too as my asthma has come back after 30 years along with my kigraines after 5 years or so.  Being 45 was not fun for me. I have never been to the ER since I gave hirth to my daughter til last year.Now that Im turning 46 next week I want to make sure I enter the year in good notes. I don’t want to sepnd the end of my birthday in the ER like last year.

Yesterday I saw a nutritionist. I felt real good about the whole lifestyle change. My main goal is to lower my trigkycerides and lose about 15-20 lbs.  Since I cannot fully go back to my work outs , I can start my journey to healthier me with eating healthier. Like a lot of trainers and health pros always say… “it all starts in the kitchen”. She has given me tips and lists of healthy eating. She even told me it’s okay to have cheat days just make sure to get back on teack the next day.

I have started my lifestyle change today. It will not be easy. There will be ups and downs but I am determined to live linger than my beloved parents who both passed away at early age of 59, three years apart from each other. Mom passed away of diabetes and  Dad passed away of heart problem and missing my dear mother.

So far at my age I am lucky not to be diagnised with diabetes like most of my mom’s side of the family would have by my age. And so far I am not diagnosed with hypertension like both my parents fakiky have.  I may be pre-hypertensive but am being monitred right now. My doctornsaid a lifestyle change can prevent all this if Iact now  and go back to my fitness regimen and eat healthier. As for my heart, i had a halter monitor last Spring and the results were negative. I am following up wih a new cardiologist for preventive care.

I used to teach dance fitness and went to dance classes at least twice a week to keep me in shape. I started walking and that also helped me a lot to lose weight and feel better. This year I plan to go back dancing and walking. I even started yoga to relax and destress from everyday stress.  

I am going to try meal prepping again for better food choices and eating habits. Working full time has interrupted my good eating habits, I snacked with junk more and ate in itregular times due to work activities. My healthy 6 small meals became 2 -3 binging meals where I ate anything in bug portions to just satisfy my hunger.

It is never too late to take control of your health. If I can do it , you can do it too. Today I start my journey to a better healthier self with all seriousness. No more excuses. I am tired of feeling fatigued, stressed and unhealthy. I don’t want to go to the ER as much as I did this past year. In fact, I don’t want to be in the ER again! It’m not going on a diet or go crazy in the gym.  I am going to take better food choices and be more active to achieve my health goals. I love myself and my daughter , I need to change my ways to live a long healthier life. It is a lifestyle change!
